P&O Release New Magazine Type Brochure for 2010 Cruises

29 June 2009 -P&O Cruises releases new magazine style brochure for 2010

In addition to a new superliner for the British market, free child places
and two round Britain cruises, P&O Cruises has added eight cruises to its
‘new magazine style’ 2010 first edition brochure.

The brochure which features a total of 156 cruise holidays between March
2010 and March 2011, visiting 210 destinations is on sale now.

P&O Cruises, managing director Nigel Esdale said, “The new P&O Cruises 2010
brochure has merged the boundaries between brochure and magazine to give
our passengers an inspirational insight into the ships and destinations
included in a P&O Cruises holiday - which you could not find in a
traditional style brochure. The new brochure will complement our website
which gives passengers much more factual information about destinations and
cruising with P&O Cruises.

The new brochure features travel articles on destinations visited in the
programme along with an insight into life on board the ships in the fleet.

“As market leaders we are offering the widest choice of departures from
Southampton during the summer season, with six ships sailing we have a
cruise to suit everyone from first-timers to the more experienced cruiser.
Passengers sailing from Southampton can start their holiday within 30
minutes of arrival at the terminal to stepping foot on board the ship of
their choice.

Highlights of the programme include:
Cruise holidays on Azura – the newest superliner addition to the
fleet
Two round Britain cruises
Six new ports of call
a Ventura 28-night Caribbean fly cruise
Expanded Caribbean and Panama Canal season with six ships sailing to
these destinations and three ships offering a fly cruise programme
Increase in Canada and New England voyages with two September
sailings and the inaugural visit for Arcadia
Enhanced value for money– Early Bird savings, and free adult and
child places throughout the season
Choice of holiday experience – ships catering for everyone from
newcomers, families, empty-nesters, baby-boomers and experienced
cruisers
Lead in prices from £569 for a seven night cruise* or just £72 per
person per day for a 14 night cruise**
Exclusive flights from 13 regional airports

Early Bird savings of up to £625 per person are available, subject to
availability.

“Our Early Bird offers mean our passenger can stretch their holiday pounds
a little further with savings off cruise fares and on board spend offers.
Plus booking early will give passengers more chance of getting their first
choice cruise and cabin.

“Travelling to Europe is currently seen as an expensive holiday option due
to the weak Sterling against the Euro, but P&O Cruises passengers do not
need to miss out.

“Cruise holidays have always offered excellent value for money but with the
current exchange rate relationships cruises are now one of the most cost
effective ways to visit Europe as all on board spend is paid for in
sterling

“Real savings can be made by families as all the little extras which turn
out to be not so little, in hotels and resorts, like supervised children's
clubs, night nursery and children's entertainment are all included in the
cost of a cruise.”

The brochure includes cruises on board Azura, the newest P&O Cruises ship,
which will join the fleet in April 2010. Azura’s maiden season will
feature cruises to the Mediterranean, the Baltic, the Norwegian Fjords, the
Canary Islands and the Caribbean.

In January 2011, the youngest luxury fleet at sea will see two of its regal ocean liners embark on global odysseys that together will visit 57 ports of call across 34 countries including a maiden World Voyage for the new Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Mary 2 travelling the globe via the intriguing east-west route of passage.

Each itinerary will offer a unique adventure – featuring overnights in Sydney, Hong Kong and Dubai on Queen Elizabeth, and Cape Town, Sydney and Hong Kong on Queen Mary 2 - combined with the line’s hallmarks of gourmet fine dining, impeccable White Star Service™ and a wide variety of elegant stateroom accommodation including the renowned and award-winning Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites.

Queen Elizabeth Maiden World Voyage

For her maiden World Voyage, Queen Elizabeth will offer a complete circumnavigation of the globe from her home port of Southampton, crossing the Atlantic en route to New York. From the west coast, Queen Elizabeth will continue her westward journey to the ever-popular city of Sydney (where she will stay overnight) via the South Pacific and New Zealand before heading to the exotic ports of Asia including Singapore, Bali, Vietnam and Thailand as well as another overnight stay in Hong Kong. Then the ship sails on to Malaysia and India before calling on Dubai (also an overnight stay), followed by a visit to Oman before transiting the Suez Canal and taking in some of the sites of Egypt, Greece, Italy and Portugal en-route back to Southampton. Here North American guests can rendezvous with the Queen Mary 2 and take in a legendary Transatlantic crossing to complete their 103-day circumnavigation of the globe. Full World Voyage fares start from $19,995 per person.

Segment voyages capture the essence of the World Voyage and aboard Queen Elizabeth range from 12 to 25-days, including New York to Los Angeles (16 days), Los Angeles to Sydney (23 days), Sydney to Singapore (25 days), Singapore to Dubai (12 days) and Dubai to Southampton (19 days). Guests can enjoy great value by combining two or more consecutive segments to create adventurous Liner Voyages. Segment fares start from $2,545 per person.

Queen Mary 2 World Voyage

Queen Mary 2 will begin her fourth World Voyage in New York and her second passage sailing on an east-west route around the globe. After a call in Fort Lauderdale, the ship will head to the Caribbean and South America, calling on Barbados, Brazil and Uruguay before arriving for an overnight stay in the magnificent city of Cape Town in South Africa, the ship’s second visit to this exceptionally beautiful metropolis. From there she will sail to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean before an exploration of Australia that culminates with an overnight stay in Sydney. The ship continues on to New Zealand and Guam before sampling some highlights of China and Japan en-route to an overnight stay in Hong Kong, followed by visits to Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and India en-route to Dubai. From here, Queen Mary 2 will call in Egypt before making a transit of the Suez Canal that will take her to European calls in Italy, Monaco, Spain and the United Kingdom, her last call before ending her 103-day odyssey in New York. Full World Voyage fares start from $19,995 per person.

Segment voyages aboard Queen Mary 2 range from 15 to 25-days and include New York to Cape Town (23 days), Cape Town to Sydney (17 days), Sydney to Hong Kong (25 days), Hong Kong to Dubai (15 days) and Dubai to New York (23 days). Consecutive segments can be combined to experience adventurous Liner Voyages. Segment fares start from $3,245 per person.

Cunard is also pleased to offer guests the chance to enjoy the World Voyage experience using a combination of Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2. Embarking in New York, guests will be able to complete the first half of their World Voyage on Queen Elizabeth before transferring ships in Sydney and sailing back to New York on Queen Mary 2.

“Cunard’s World Voyages have been a highlight of our programmes since we introduced this travel adventure in 1922 and our two global journeys offer surprising value that is truly beyond expectation,” said Carol Marlow, president and managing director of Cunard Line.

Cunard Royal Rendenzvous

Exactly three years to the day after Cunard welcomed its trio of Queens in New York, this rare event is poised to take place again on January 13, 2011 when Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth call on New York for another spectacular Cunard Royal Rendezvous. Be among the few to experience this history-making day as you depart New York Harbour on one of the most famous ocean liners in the world.

Celebrity Equinox to Offer New Spa and Amenities

July 1, 2009 – When Celebrity Cruises’ newest Solstice-class ship, the 2,850-guest Celebrity Equinox, sets sail for the first time this summer, her sleek exterior and critically acclaimed interior design won’t be the only features raising eyebrows among cruise and travel enthusiasts. Playing off the success of the launch of her sister ship, Celebrity Solstice, the newest vessel in Celebrity’s fleet will also offer AquaClass staterooms designed to offer a soothing, spa-focused ambiance, as well as several indulgent new offerings in the onboard spa.

Celebrity’s AquaClass veranda staterooms, introduced as a Solstice-class exclusive feature last year, are located in close proximity to the ships’ two-story spa, known as “AquaSpa by Elemis.” AquaClass is the only stateroom category in Celebrity’s fleet that offers no third and fourth guest berthing, making the area quieter and more exclusive for guests wishing to relax in an utterly serene environment.
Guests in Celebrity’s AquaClass enjoy a host of spa-inspired amenities and perks. These include unlimited access to the AquaSpa’s Persian Garden aromatherapy steam room, featuring heated ceramic loungers, and the Relaxation Room, which offers stunning vistas from comfortable loungers and a peaceful ambiance. AquaClass guests also enjoy unlimited, complimentary access to the ship’s exclusive, “clean-cuisine” and Mediterranean-influenced specialty restaurant, Blu. The dinner menu features savory appetizers along the lines of roasted beet salad with goat cheese; Mediterranean chopped salad with pita chips and pomegranate vinaigrette; and entrees including blackened ahi tuna, pan-seared filet mignon, and herb-crusted rack of lamb; Blu is also open for breakfast, exclusively for AquaClass and suite guests.
AquaClass guests enjoy in-stateroom amenities that include a pillow menu featuring Swedish Isotonic, body and hypo-allergenic pillows; carafes of unsweetened iced tea; soothing, calming lavender oil in a reed diffuser; and a five-jet shower by Hansgrohe, designed to invigorate and relax. AquaClass guests on Celebrity Solstice have been enjoying the convenience of accessing free, exclusive, on-demand video programming that introduces them to wellness-themed activities such as meditation, yoga, etc., in the comfort of their stateroom.
AquaClass will comprise 130 of the ship’s 1,426 staterooms. A full 85 percent of all staterooms on Celebrity Equinox will have verandas, and all staterooms will be equipped with flat-screen TVs, smarter storage and closet space, spacious bathrooms, and plush European bedding. The ship will offer wireless Internet access throughout.
All guests on Celebrity Equinox are welcome to treat themselves to indulge in the ship’s AquaSpa by Elemis, which will offer its standard line-up of revitalizing, restorative experiences for individuals and couples. Renowned for its exotic therapies focused on beauty and wellness, Celebrity’s AquaSpa – offering full service on all ships except the 92-guest mega-yacht, Celebrity Xpedition, which offers limited options – will offer new treatments on Celebrity Equinox, including an opulent, restorative new treatment: “24-Karat Gold Facial.
The treatment, which uses an alchemy of expert touch, medicinal plants, Rose Quartz and a pure 24-karat gold leaf mask, speeds up cell renewal and results in a rebalanced, nourished, brighter and more clarified skin texture and complexion. The new ship will offer "red carpet make-up" application after every facial in its line-up, featuring a natural touch of Colorscience mineral powder and lip gloss to keep skin and lips glowing.
Guests who experience the 24-Karat Gold Facial on Celebrity Equinox will also be able to enjoy a special cocktail inspired by the treatment itself. The “Golden Kiss Martini” will feature Golden Supreme vodka, cucumber juice, agave syrup and lemon juice, muddled with fresh mint.
Celebrity Equinox will also offer a “lash and brow bar,” where guests can add glamour to their look by selecting from a variety of eyelash enhancements, offered in three styles: Natural Lashes, Evening Eyes or Ultra Glam, which features a sparkling touch of glitter. Brow sculpting will be offered by expert aestheticians who carefully shape and define the eyebrows to give the face an instant lift and a polished appearance. Brow tinting, which can cover gray hairs or enhance one’s natural look, will be available in various shades. Lash tinting, ideal for guests whose eyelashes are light in color, will also be available.Celebrity Equinox’s AquaSpa will offer a full slate of massages, wraps, couples treatments, rituals and facials. The ship also offers men’s barber services, including traditional barber shaves.
Celebrity also presents a comprehensive slate of “medi-spa” offerings onboard. As the first cruise line to offer onboard acupuncture, Celebrity will continue to offer this popular treatment on Celebrity Equinox, in a space located within the AquaSpa. Celebrity Equinox will also offer BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, which soften fine lines and wrinkles to result in a more youthful appearance; Restylane and Perlane treatments, Elemis Oxydermy facials and teeth whitening.

A full-service fitness center, located in the AquaSpa area of the ship, will offer guests the option to exercise on state-of-the-art equipment at their own pace or participate in group fitness classes. An outdoor walking/jogging track gives guests the opportunity to take in the sea air while staying healthy. Celebrity also offers guests the option to purchase personal training services onboard.

Celebrity Equinox Godmother Raises $85 Million For Breast Cancer Research

June 25, 2009 – Celebrity Cruises today announced that Nina Barough, CBE (Commander of the British Empire), founder of the UK-based charity, “Walk the Walk,” will serve as Godmother of Celebrity Equinox, the second in Celebrity’s lauded Solstice Class fleet.

Barough will officially name the ship in Southampton, England, during the formal naming ceremony July 29, culminating in a large bottle of champagne custom-made by The Corning Museum of Glass crashing against the hull of the 2,850-guest ship.
Celebrity selected Barough in recognition of her fervent devotion to raising awareness of breast cancer and her tremendous success in raising funds for the cause – $85-million to-date – through Walk the Walk’s “SunWalks” and “MoonWalks.” The four annual marathon walks in London, Edinburgh, Bristol and Newcastle attract thousands of women typically clad in decorated bras – the signature apparel for most participants. A fair number of men also participate in the walks.
“Nina is an outstanding leader, business person, and fundraiser, but what is perhaps most impressive, and certainly most inspiring, is her tireless devotion to breast cancer causes,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman of Celebrity Cruises and Chairman and CEO of parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “We are honored to have as Godmother of Celebrity Equinox someone whose work has benefited so many battling breast cancer, and whose personal triumph over the disease has inspired and encouraged thousands of women, men and families in the UK and beyond,” said Celebrity Cruises President & CEO Dan Hanrahan.A breast cancer survivor herself, Barough’s numerous other life achievements include receiving a CBE for her contributions to health care through the British “New Year Honours” in December 2006. More recently, she was recognized at the “Pride of Britain Awards” (September 2008), where she was named “Fundraiser of the Year.” And in October 2008, Barough was honored once again; this time, with the “Woman of the Year – Outstanding Achievement Award” in recognition of her willpower, spirit and courage.
“I am extremely excited to serve as this fantastic ship’s Godmother, and look forward to presiding over such a meaningful and celebratory ceremony,” said Barough. “I feel blessed to be given this opportunity to raise the profile of our charity through my association with Celebrity Cruises, and very honored to name a vessel as gorgeous as Celebrity Equinox.”
Celebrity Equinox enters service July 31 from Southampton on an eight-night Norwegian Fjords cruise, then returns to Southampton to embark on the ship’s official maiden voyage departing August 8 for the Mediterranean. The ship will present a series of Mediterranean sailings from Rome (Civitavecchia) through the fall and will offer Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., beginning this winter.

MSC Cruises' MSC Splendida Offers Green Technologies

(June 29, 2009) – Reflecting the high personal standards and love of the sea of its owners, MSC Cruises has incorporated the latest and best systems for protecting the environment into the new MSC Splendida, which will be christened by godmother Sophia Loren on July 12. Like her sister ship MSC Fantasia, the MSC Splendida effectively utilizes “green” technology to ensure that she preserves the beauty of the sea and the air wherever she travels.

The many environmentally friendly features onboard include:
  • A five-stage Advanced Wastewater Treatment (AWT) plant that processes all wastewater produced onboard. Although the effluent produced by this system is so pure that it could be discharged into the ocean without harming the ecosystem, it is stored onboard for later transfer to land-based waste systems in port.

  • Innovative Stateroom Monitoring System technology in the staterooms and public areas provides nearly a 25 percent reduction in onboard energy use. For example, this system is able to detect an opened stateroom window or balcony doors, adjusting the room temperature setting in the climate control system accordingly.

  • Special high-efficiency incinerators handle disposal of paper and cardboard waste onboard, while compacting machines and grinders sort and prepare aluminium and glass which is later recycled in port.

These environmental safeguards of MSC Splendida match those used on her sister ship, MSC Fantasia, which earned the distinction of being the first passenger ship to receive the prestigious ‘6 Golden Pearls’ award from Bureau Veritas in recognition as one of the greenest ships in the world.

MSC Splendida is currently awaiting certification for this classification, which also includes meeting the highest standards for food quality and safety.

MSC Cruises cares about the environment and continues to take steps towards its improvement. The company was one of the first to sign the Venice Blue Flag agreement to reduce emissions in the Venice Lagoon through the use of ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel in its engines. For this year's World Environment Day, on June 5, , on June 5, MSC Cruises offered free onboard screenings of the Home by photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, produced by Denis Carot, Luc Besson and François-Henri Pinault.

Hurtigruten Offers Discounts and Provides Bikes

June 2009 – Whether the attraction is the perpetual summer light of Norway’s Midnight Sun, energizing the spirit and providing hours-long sunsets, or heaven's stunning fall/winter light show known as the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, guests may have a tough time choosing as Hurtigruten offers substantial savings packages that are equally enticing.

The company's "Two-For-One" sale, allowing companions to share a cabin for the price of one fare, or its newest bundled savings offer - the "Norwegian Coastal Value Package," which combines air, land and cruise into one discounted parcel, have been extended to cover bookings made by August 31. The six-, seven- and 12-day Norwegian Coastal Voyage sailings on one of Hurtigruten’s modern fleet of ships provide abundant opportunities to take in the many attractions lining the country’s 1,250-mile west coast including the verdant fjords, charming fishing villages, and cities such as Art Nouveau Alesund and lively Tromso and Trondheim.

The “Norwegian Coastal Value Package,” a one-stop all-inclusive promotion available on peak season bookings through September, includes roundtrip air, hotel and transfers. The select six-, seven- and 12-day itineraries become nine-and 14-day cruise-tours with the addition of one night in Oslo and Bergen or one in either city. Prices range from $2,359 to $4,129 if booked by August 31. Air fare add-ons for the two promotions from North American gateways are priced from $100 to $360. Air fuel surcharges, air and cruise taxes and ticketing are included.
Hurtigruten's "Two-For-One" applies on most sailings between Sept. and Dec. and is as simple as its name suggests - companions sharing a cabin and booking by August 31 each pay 50% of the normal per person fare. Cabin prices on the six-day southbound voyage are $680 to $1,110, per person, double with the discount; on the seven-day northbound voyage the reduced rates are $865 to $1,410; and the 12-day roundtrip comes in at $1,235 to $2,015. Gov. fees and cruise taxes are included.

Rental bicycles are now onboard each Hurtigruten ship so guests can strike out a bit further afield when they head for shore -- exploring the nooks and crannies of each port visited. The ships’ 34 ports feature a fascinating array of sites, with many offering bragging rights upon return home: in Bergen, travelers can visit the Akvariet Aquarium, boasting the largest collection of saltwater fish in the world; and at the Bryggen Museum, explore the remains of five wooden houses dating back to the 11th century, as well as well as the world’s largest collection of rune stones, inscribed by the Vikings. In Hammerfest, guests can visit the world’s northernmost Catholic community; and in Vardo, the world’s northernmost fort. In Longyearbyen, the ships call at the world's most northern town; and in Tromso, Norway’s seventh largest city, the world’s most northernmost mosque, brewery, university, botanical garden and planetarium.
Shore excursions proffer up options as well including visits to Geirangerfjord, a World Heritage site, with a stop at Ornesvingen, boasting stunning views of the fjord, mountains and the “Seven Sisters” waterfall. A sailing adventure transports travelers through Norway’s second largest glacier, Svartisen, where sea eagles spread their wings overhead. From Bodo, guests can embark on an excursion to Saltstraumen, where in sturdy rafts, they witness the world’s most powerful tidal currents and a range of mountains dating back more than 250 million years. At the Lofotr Museum, guests will learn about Viking history, experiencing a recreated Chieftain’s house where a feast, mirroring dishes from the Viking Ages, will be served.

Hurtigruten is a world leader in exploration cruising, sailing to some of the world's most remote destinations including Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic’s Spitsbergen, combining once-in-a-lifetime trips with learning as experts in the fields of geology, environmental sciences, wildlife, botany and more travel with the guests to inform and educate. P&O New Ship Azura is Floated Out.

June 26, 2009 - The newest superliner for P&O Cruises, Azura, touched water for the first
time today in the traditional “floating out” ceremony, prior to her launch
next April.

The 115,000-ton ship is taking shape at Fincantieri Monfalcone shipyard
near Trieste and today saw the float out of Azura in a special two part
ceremony.

Amanda Dowds, wife of Azura’s Captain, Keith Dowds acted as “madrina” or
“godmother” for a symbolic ceremony in which a newly-minted two pound coin
and a new euro are welded at the foot of the ship’s mast for good luck.

Azura was blessed by a priest as a bottle of Italian Prosecco smashed
against the hull. The valves of the giant dry dock at the Monfalcone
shipyard then opened allowing the ship to meet the water for the first
time.

P&O Cruises, managing director, Nigel Esdale, said: “The float out ceremony
is a significant event in the build of a new ship. Azura is designed with
traditional cruise values of service and quality combined with the
flexibility and choice that today’s contemporary customer expects and the
high level of early bookings proves this demand.

“For Azura we’ve gone ‘back to the future’. We’re looking at how
travelling at sea really should be; sophisticated, relaxing, indulgent and
exciting, whilst we are also looking forward at the same time. Firsts for
P&O Cruises will include an open-air cinema-at-sea, an open air spa terrace
and single staterooms.”

Azura will feature an Indian fine dining restaurant, Sindhu, the creation
of celebrated Michelin starred Chef Atul Kochhar who attended today’s
ceremony. Sindhu means meeting point, amalgamation or fusion, and the menu
will offer a fusion of fine British and Indian cuisine with dishes such as
pan-fried lobster tail in coconut milk and tamarind sauce.

TV wine expert Olly Smith has also been enlisted to help create a new wine
bar and restaurant concept – The Glass House. A must for wine lovers, The
Glass House menu will feature different wines recommended with each course,
all served by the glass and expertly matched by Olly, who was also present
in Italy.

The Saturday Kitchen star will act as consultant in the creation of the
drinks menus for Azura’s other bars and restaurants and will travel
regularly throughout the year to host light hearted tasting sessions in his
own irreverent style.

Azura will be named in Southampton in April 2010 and depart on her maiden
voyage on 12 April 2010. A 16-night Mediterranean holiday departing 5
September 2010, calling in Malaga, Katakolon, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Venice,
Korcula and Gibraltar starts from £1,685* per person.

Keel Laid For Cunard's New Queen Elizabeth

2 July 2009 – Today a ceremony to mark the keel laying of Cunard Line’s new Queen Elizabeth was held at the Monfalcone shipyard of Fincantieri near Trieste, Italy. The second largest Cunarder ever built, Queen Elizabeth’s keel is the third Cunard has lain in the space of seven years. When she enters service in October 2010, she will join Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria as not only the most famous ocean liners in the world but also the youngest fleet in passenger travel.

The keel laying involves the placement in the dry dock of the first section of the ship’s hull. This section is made up of six pre-manufactured blocks, weighs 364 tons and is fitted with 104 tons of pipes, cables, insulation and other equipment.

The ceremony followed an intensive period of design and development. Fifty-three sections will be used in the construction of Queen Elizabeth and she will take to the water for the first time at her float out in December.

“We are delighted to be back here among our friends at Fincantieri so soon after we took delivery of Queen Victoria in 2007—the first Cunarder to be built in Italy—and I am sure that Queen Elizabeth will be just as popular and successful as her two sister ships,” said Carol Marlow, president of Cunard Line. “We at Cunard are always impressed by the commitment and enthusiasm of everyone at Fincantieri, and we look forward to the next year-and-a half of working closely with them on this ship, which will be nurtured by their skill and vision and built into a vessel equal in stature to the other great Cunard liners,” she added.

Paolo Capobianco, director of Fincantieri Shipyard, said, “Our company is the heir to the Italian shipbuilding industry and the world leader in cruise ship construction and believes, as Cunard does, in the possibility and the need of actively matching tradition and innovation. Building a new liner for Cunard is a special achievement for Fincantieri and takes us right to our roots, fostering both our determination to build once again a passenger ship of high technological content and unmistakable style, reflecting the best of the industry and tailored to the needs and requirements of the ship owner.”

Queen Elizabeth will feature the unique Cunard traditions linking her with her sisters Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria and their predecessors, together with all the modern day luxuries Cunard’s guests have come to expect and some exciting features that will give the vessel her own style and personality.

Named after the first Queen Elizabeth, one of Cunard’s greatest ships, the new Queen Elizabeth will reflect her predecessor in interior grandeur, décor and style, but with a modern twist. From the outside, her distinctive black and red livery will hint at an experience that differentiates a Cunard liner from a modern-day cruise ship. This will be most evident in the ship’s adherence to liner traditions, with elegant double and triple height public rooms on a grand scale, luxuriously endowed with rich wood panelling, intricate mosaics, gleaming chandeliers and cool marbles. Art Deco features will pay homage to the original Queen Elizabeth and will allow the new ship to reflect a more civilized era of travel.

Furthermore, in addition to the extensive Cunard entertainment programme on board, Queen Elizabeth will offer some unique strands inspired by the era of the first Queen Elizabeth, such as country house parties at sea, evening piano sing-a-longs and period dancing, from traditional ballroom to the jitterbug and the jive, all within the setting of this 21st century ship.

As successor to Queen Elizabeth 2, the ship will also reflect this great liner through artworks and memorabilia and its very own “Yacht Club.”

Queen Elizabeth will also pay homage to the links that Cunard has enjoyed with royalty and the maritime world over the years with photography, memorabilia and exhibits.

Queen Elizabeth will depart on her Maiden Voyage on 12 October 2010—a voyage which sold out in a record-breaking 29 minutes 14 seconds in April 2009. This 13-night celebration will leave from Cunard’s home port of Southampton and will call at Vigo (for Santiago de Compostela), Lisbon, Seville (Cadiz), Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Tenerife (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, an overnight call), La Palma (Santa Cruz de La Palma) and Madeira (Funchal).

Her Maiden Season will run from October 2010 to January 2011 and include voyages to the Western and Central Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Fares start from just $1,195 per person for the five-night 26 November 2010 Gallic Debut voyage with ports of call at Amsterdam, Zeebrugge and Le Havre; while the 13-night Iberian Discovery voyage departing 1 December 2010 features fares from $2,395 per person, with ports of call at Vigo, Lisbon, Seville, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma and Madeira.

The world’s newest ocean liner will depart Southampton on 5 January 2011 on her 103-night epic Maiden World Voyage, which has just been released for sale. This will see her make 35 maiden calls, including Cunard’s first call ever at Port Denarau (Fiji). In total, Queen Elizabeth will call at 38 ports in 24 countries as she makes her way west around the globe, with maiden transits of both the Panama and Suez Canals and calls at Los Angeles, Auckland, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and Lisbon. Queen Elizabeth will be in great company as her sisters will be present on several occasions during the voyage: she will sail in tandem to New York with Queen Victoria before all three Queens will meet for a Cunard Royal Rendezvous in New York on 13 January 2011; and then she meets with Queen Mary 2 in Sydney and Civitavecchia and Queen Victoria again in Aruba. Full World Voyage fares aboard Queen Elizabeth start from $19,995; Queen Elizabeth’s Segment World Voyage fares start from $2,545. Fares are based per person, double occupancy.
